WynCoat^®, They are modified polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS). Scratch & Mar resistance agents are recommended in many formulations where improved resistance is required. In the paint, silicone-based agents strongly reduce the surface tension and increase the slip. Consequently, the scratching item will slip on the paint surface and will not or less deteriorates the film surface. Some specific modified structures can also form a thin protective layer at the paint surface. Silicone-based agent may have also a positive influence on the film aspect.

SE-4251 is equivalent to DC-51 in international markets.

WynCoat^®SE-4251 is an 80% active dispersion of a very high molecular weight polydimethylsiloxane gum. It is an effective additive for both water-based as well as solvent-based coating systems providing excellent slip, mar resistance, gloss, anti-blocking and release effects. Tin- based catalysts are not used in the manufacture of SE-4251.

Applications and Uses

SE-4251 is used as an additive in water as well as solvent-based systems for paint and inks and coatings formulations to provide slip, mar resistance, reduction of coefficient of friction, gloss, anti-blocking and release properties.

SE-4251 is particularly effective in solvent-based coating, especially for leather top coats. Depending of the application, the amount of SE-4251 used ranges from 0.05-3.00% weight percent based on the total formulation. Prior to use, the product can be added as supplied or pre-diluted with water or the typical solvent used in any solvent-based coatings.

Package and storage stability

Available in 20 kg pail and 200 kg drums

When stored between 10 and 40°C in the original unopened container, SE-4251 has a shelf life of 24 months from the date of manufacture.
